Faculty Name Research Area Dr. Gupta is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Her areas of expertise are cancer biology, epigenetics, and tumor microenvironment (TME).
Cancer Biology Dr. Rong Li has been working in gene regulation and breast cancer biology for more than two decades. He currently is chair of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
Breast Cancer Research Dr. Mazumder is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine and Co-Director of The McCormick Genomic Proteomic Center at The George Washington University (GW). His background is in evolutionary biology and bioinformatics.
Bioinformatics Dr. Shook joined George Washington University’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine in 2019 as an Assistant Professor. He has explored cellular and molecular pathways that coordinate tissue repair and become dysregulated under pathological conditions.
Immune Response Dr. Horvath is a Research Professor in the Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine Department. Her research program focuses on identifying biologically significant trends from Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) datasets.
scRNA-seq Dr. Li's research spans three different exciting areas: genome engineering, computational biology, and cancer biology.
Genome Engineering, Single Cell Genomics Dr. Sen's research focuses on Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Career Resources
The Center for Career Services provides individualized and group career education services such as career coaching, interview preparation, networking assistance, and resume and cover letter reviews. Students can attend alumni and employer panels, visit employers in different cities, and gain access to important information for their career exploration journey through dozens of events and programs each year. The Center assists students from all backgrounds and affinity communities in finding career fulfillment by providing coaching and employer connections.
Scholarships and Other Financial Aid
For students intending to follow the M.S. thesis option, part-time research assistantships may be available after the first semester. These assistantships are provided based on merit, faculty recommendations, and availability of funds in the laboratories. Some assistantships also provide 2 - 3 credits of tuition remission per semester. Information on other types of graduate student financial aid may be obtained from the GW Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships.
