Curriculum Map

Starting Fall 2023 all incoming students will follow this curriculum map. This map combines the Bioinformatics Track and Biochemistry Track into one program to provide a curriculum that integrates the two fields better.

Both 1-year and 2-year programs are set at 30 credits graduation requirements.

2-Year Program

Thesis Option - There are several activities planned to help students find a mentor. It is strongly recommended that students diligently explore their research interests and connect with the research community to find a mentor by the middle of the second semester. Students should not register for thesis hours till they have a mentor.

Students pursuing the Thesis option will take 14 credits of core (required), 6 thesis credits, and 10 credits of elective courses.

Here is a suggested curriculum plan.

*CORE (required courses)
~ELECTIVES - Use electives that can count towards the 30-credit requirement.
Electives should be approved by the Program director. If you have trouble registering for a course please contact the course director. A list of suggested electives can be found under courses, GW Bulletin, and also under Schedule of Classes
